I began teaching privately in college in 2000. Since then I have maintained a studio of students in my home and in their homes. I believe focused, goal-specific practice sessions are key to developing a love for music and one's on instrument. Many of my students have earned superiors at state festivals and have won music scholarships to various schools. I strive to have each student develop individual goals for themselves and their musical experiences; whether it be simply getting better for the love of playing, or striving to perfect their skills to excel at various auditions. At the beginning I will test the students on how much they know and what they like to play(soundtracks, gospel songs, songs out of the hymnal, classical etc). I start every lesson with positive and a little bit of chit chat to see how everything in their life is going. In 2012, I graduated from the American Band College of Sam Houston State University with my Master's of Music degree in Conducting, and in 2008 I graduated from the Western Carolina University Honors College with my Bachelor's degree in Music Education. I have had amazing experiences in my high school, college, and adult life performing with and learning from musicians all over the world, and I love helping my students to have even greater experiences of their own! I look at each student individually to assess their potential and goals before setting a book or particular study plan. Once the student has begun basic technique exercises, I assign book levels and vocal repertoire that fits their interests as well as matching what I feel the student needs to be working on. I am an open-minded and energentic teacher that will do whatever it takes to help my students learn the piano! Playing the piano is one of the biggest joys of my life, and I love to share that with as many people as possible. I gradauted in 2011 from Hyles-Anderson College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education with a minor in Piano Pedagogy.
