Truly enjoy seeing students seeing students get it, musically and become successful. I teach as if I am training my replacement so I can attend a concert and hear them play; specially when I am too old to play but can still hear a good concert. For students between the ages of 3 and 7, I typically use either the Little Mozarts method or the Birds and Dogs method. For students who are older, I use a combination of methods, including Alfred's, Bastien and Faber. For beginning students, I like to use either standard of excellence or essential elements. I also pull from my own personal library or will ask to provide materials based on the students needs. Lessons are structured with some type of warm up, a technique and solo performance, as well as practicing skills on sight reading. This is good for both adults and kids. I also like to set goals at each lesson and have a time frame of what the expectations are for the following lesson. Read More

I simply want my students to come into their first lesson wanting to learn more about their instrument and music. I want them to leave their final lesson feeling the same way, but at a more advanced level than when they first arrived. They don't need to be professional level when they leave, but I want them to feel as though they learned some valuable things as my student and want to either continue learning elsewhere or feel content about what they have learned and are ready to move on to other things.
