I was born with a natural affinity for music and have dedicated my entire life to all aspects of music; from composing and performing to producing events and films.Having been educated since high school in the field of music, I went on to graduate from The University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Music Theory and Compostion Degree, and continued my education receiving my teaching credential from San Francisco State University where I minored in Voice. I am highly social and greatly enjoy the company of my students of all ages. I produce two recitals per year for my students. I have been performing professionally for decades and currently work for The Mark Castro Band.
I'm a lifelong learner and sharer of what musical knowledge I have collected over 8 years of playing and performing music, specifically guitar. I played in a few bands in junior high and high school in various styles such as flamenco, classical, hymns, blues, and other styles as well. In college I played in a Jazz band my sophomore year, met a WONDERFUL violinist (in the photo I've shared). Melissa, the wonderful violinist, and I are at a gig in that photo just a few months ago.. I belive it was the fall of 2015, playing the ceremony for a traditional Jewish wedding. I now enjoy teaching and making GREAT music in incline village. I've even tried my hand at open mic night at the Alibi; LOVE this town and would relish the opportunity to share music with you! Available in my home or at my workplace.
I'm a pssionate musician and music teacher. I enjoy sharing my passion with students. I spend much of my time composing and teaching. I graduated from Lewis and Clark College in 2012 with a major in English and a heavy emphasis on music. I have studied African drumming, electronic music, classical music and jazz. I am well versed in hip hop as well. I have stayed tru to my roots and focused on mostly acoustic music, but my range transfers over to electric as well. I have played in several ensembles and with friends. Most recently I spent a semester teaching music in rural Oregon. I play piano, guitar, banjo and drums. I can teach all of these as well.
Because each student progresses at his or her own pace, I am extremely patient and encouraging in each lesson—music should be a relaxing, fun pastime free of anxiety and stress about progressing overly rapidly. We will work hard, but we will remember the underlying joy that comes from making music! Therefore, each lesson will target areas of improvement in each student's playing, while positively reinforcing each student's success as we progress each week. Even during difficult lessons, there are multitudes of positive moments that happen!

"I've been taking lessons with Richard for just a little over six months now and all I can say is that he is an amazing instructor. He hasn't followed a set one size fits all script in his lessons but has instead worked with my musical interests and at my pace in a way that is truly valuable. He has also kept things fun, interesting, and engaging even at times when I've felt overwhelmed and discouraged. This is an instructor that is truly adaptable to his students and will make sure that they get the most out of their lessons. I would definitely recommend him to anybody that truly wants to unlock their musical potential."

My daughter really enjoys her lessons with Pavel. She is an absolute beginner and Pavel is right with her as she learns the basics. She is completely engaged and always looks forward to her lesson. He packs a lot of learning into their 30 minute time slot - he gets right to it as soon as he walks in the door! He is a great teacher - we highly recommend!

Melissa is very encouraging, positive, supportive and patient. She knows how to explain the technical details of flute and music notation to kids in a way that makes sense to them. She has been reliable so far turning up on time and calling if there is a need to reschedule. I would definitely recommend her to others.

After signing up for lessons with David L. I knew I made the right choice. Just after a couple of weeks I didn't see him as a teacher but as a best friend. There was always a relaxed atmosphere during the lessons. He was very easy to talk to and he really listen to you. If I ever had a question he would answer. He tailors to what ever you want to do in that lesson. David L. is a great teacher and a friend. I totally recommend him for anyone

Noel is amazing. She is helping me to work toward my vocal goals for auditions to several musical theaters. She has helped me choose strong audition pieces and is teaching excellent ways to get the sound I need in a safe and healthy way. She works outside our lessons on new warm ups and new music pieces. She is the best.

Michael is exactly what I was looking for in a teacher. The first thing he did was to determine what I wanted to get out of lessons, and what my existing skill level is. He is now aiming me in the right direction - and he is clearly skilled, experienced and knowledgeable, in addition to being very easy to get along with. I'm very happy.

Very knowledgeable on every aspect of music theory. I listen to recording artists playing various classical pieces, Dan's playing is much like a recording artist's playing. Always on time. Winning happy personality, a great role model. Puts me at ease when I am playing. Have two friends who hold music degrees, I count him a third, something special about the minds and personalities of good pianists. Thanks Dan.

Mr. Lou M. is a God-send! With the various needs that our organization requires from our education partners in order to provide enrichment services to our students, Mr. Lou M. has always gone above and beyond in meeting all of those needs. Our students are learning, our caregivers are happy and satisfied, and we couldn't be more pleased with his performance.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
