I love it when students discover something about music, their instrument, or themselves all on their own. I have a passion for learning and I try to instill in my students a similar love of simply uncovering new ideas. Every student is different, but everyone loves to feel a sense of accomplishment, so I set goals for my students that they can easily reach with a little focus and hard work from both of us. Whether this is from scratch or from a method book I try to see what each student is successful in and struggling with to guide my teaching. As a child of parents who have been/currently are teachers, I understand the utter importance of a good teacher. Personally, I believe the teacher/student relationship can be incredibly impactful and inspiring. I was always very inspired by my favorite teachers and I do not believe I would have progressed as a musician/human without the lessons I learned from my teachers over the years. I love watching the lightbulb go off in my students' heads and encouraging them when they're struggling or when they nail a concept. Read More
