I am dedicated and passionate flutist whose goal is to create meaningful musical experiences for audiences and students alike. Music is one of the most important and inspiring things I do everyday and I am grateful to have the opportunity to share it with students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. I graduated with a Masters degree in Flute Performance from the University of New Mexico and, most recently, served as interim principal flutist for the Queretaro Philharmonic in Mexico. Read More

For more advanced players and singers, I want to encourage practice and therefore, help the students find songs/repertoire that they are very interested in playing/performing. We make a goal to play a certain piece for a specific recital date and they are more motivated to practice! I have a Star Student Award each week for my studio for students are really doing a fantastic job with practice and making progress. Read More

I began teaching part time when I was in college. After moving to Dallas, I continued to teach part time while attending graduate school. Upon graduation, I began teaching full time during the day at public schools and evenings in my own studio. Encouraging reguler practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for my students. This tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the flute. Instruments: Piano

For beginning students, I usually start with the Faber Piano Adventures series. We also work on long-term pieces for festivals and recitals throughout the year if they are interested in playing for those. I strongly encourage them to participate in these, helping them to feel confident and secure in these performances. I will also pull in pieces from other methods or books when needed to fill in any gaps or work with any different learning styles. Read More

Instruments: Trumpet Trombone

I graduated in 2011 from SMU with my music degree in Trumpet Performance, and have been teaching privately in the Dallas area ever since. Although while at SMU my focus was mainly on orchestral playing and classical techniques, I am equally comfortable playing jazz and commercial styles, and honestly probably play those styles just as much as I do orchestral work now. I love teaching lessons and view each student as a unique way to approach the instrument. Read More
