In addition to teaching in the public schools, Mr. Jesse W. has been playing guitar and bass professionally in the local funk band Tha Funkahol-x, and has performed for audiences with George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars. In undergraduate school, he studied composition and arrangement with Ricky Ford, internationally acclaimed jazz saxophonist, at Brandeis, and performed in the Brandeis Jazz Ensemble under his direction. Taught privately in the Washington DC area for 3 years before moving to NYC to earn my Bachelors of Fine Arts in Music majoring in Jazz Guitar. For all students I strongly encourage an appropriate level to begin with. I am very familiar and prefer to teach with the James Bastien series. This series come with the appropriate assigned age level. There are four books with each level. A technic, theory, performance, and Piano. While progressing through that level I mix in to teach Major, Minor, harmonic minor, and melodic minor scales for theory and fundamentals.
