Instruments: Violin
I have helped students achieve their goals as young as 4 years old and into their college years! I am trained in the Suzuki Method, but I also feel comfortable teaching any preference and learning style. I particularly enjoy teaching younger musicians and have focused my work on beginner students, as young as preschool. However, because of my extensive performing experience, I have been able to see many of my students into universities where they have continued to play the violin at top levels. Read More
Instruments: Piano
Seeing student success is a very rewarding experience. The process is the best part. Showing students how to advance their skills is something I have always enjoyed since I began teaching. I inform students about the historical elements of piano, how to compose, how to listen to music and how to perform. It is more than just performing simple pieces, it's an understanding of what the composer did to create such music. Read More
Instruments: Violin Viola
I'm a violin/viola teacher who is very dedicated and passionate about music and playing. I am also very kind to children in a fun and encouraging way to learn. I graduated from University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Music in violin performance. I continued to Peabody Conservatory of Music, University of Johns Hopkins in Baltimore for Master of Music and Graduate Performance Diploma in violin performance. After I finished the school, I joined the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra as a part time work in addition to teaching students. Read More
Instruments: Bass Guitar Double Bass Tuba
As my teaching evolved and matured and sharpened I never lost the most important ingredient,HUMOR, AND TRUST! It is and should be understood that you are a professional trying to do the best for your students. You as the teacher are teaching a form of art, which is no mystery. The simple key to mastery of a art form whether it be in music or some other related form such as dancer painting, or acting is doing it over and over and letting it mature into something wonderful and productive. Instruments: Guitar Voice
Aestethics or "beauty" of the voice is subjective. In this method we favor the voice health. The ability to sing without fatigue. The confidence that we can trust in our instrument. The result of this work is after all a "beautiful" sound. And it will sound beautiful for every listener. "The acoustical result of a healthy sound is a beautiful sound. And we will agree in any culture that its beautiful because its an instinct aesthetic." (Eugene Rabine) The method itself comprehends 4 parts: 1) a theory about the functional system (how the instrument works) 2) a theory about the sensomotorial system (how one person learns a sensomotorial activity) And based on those 2 theories: 3) a specific Pedagogy 4) a specific Didactic I don't want to get too "technical" in this section, you're free to ask me if you have further questions about these aspect. Instruments: Piano Saxophone Clarinet
Progression is my primary goal for each student. When my students grow, I grow. It is imperitive that each student remembers that growth is an individualized thing. I first encourage my students to set goals. Knowing what my student has an interest in doing/becoming will help me understand better how to pace the lessons. I always encourage consistent practice and acknowledging each student's accomplishment helps drive the student's desire to want to progress. Read More
Instruments: Piano Cello Double Bass Keyboard
Together we will create a custom lesson plan including things like scales, etudes, solos, excerpts, and covers. I like to direct students to play scales and etudes with drones that can be found online or from an app. and can offer many more helpful practice techniques. I can teach classical bass, piano, and cello, as well as pop/rock bass, piano, cello, or vocal performance. I also teach music composition, performing and arranging covers, and can coach any instrument for specific performances. Read More
