During my time at Belmont University, I taught music part time, as the other hours during the day were spent on class material, creating music of my own, as well as further developing methods by which to teach. Towards the end of college I took a break from teaching to focus on my career as an artist/songwriter. However, during 2021 I decided to start teaching again, which has reignited my passion for teaching and desire to spread music to others! Read More

For beginner students who are children I like to start by teaching them the songs that they like, because that keeps them focused on learning and engaged in the beginning. Then I go on to teach them the industry standards and classics that every guitar player needs to know to be effective. Finally I can move on to teaching theory and the reason why songs sound good in the first place all the while doing both Mel Bay and Hal Leonard lessons when applicable. Read More

Ive been teaching saxophone and piano lessons professionally for the last 7 years, and have had students go on to play for the Utah All-State Jazz Band and have earned several scholarships. I encourage regular practicing and give weekly assignments that include rudiments, transcription projects, and listening assignments. I focus on the jazz language and how its been applied to modern genres like hip hop, funk, and RnB. My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. I'm a freelance musician, transcriptionist and composer located in Nashville. Music is constantly present in my life. I love exploring new music and exploring new avenues to be creative in music. I graduated from Belmont University in 2014. Previous to living in Nashville, I lived in Wisconsin for 18 years. While I was there I played in a symphonic metal band called Warseid. Once I moved to Nashville, I started studying jazz, classical guitar, playing country, exploring avant-garde music as well as bluegrass. Read More

As a piano instructor I like to work beginers through a few books that have both a visual and comprehensive element which accomodates various learning styles. I continue with intermediate students teaching them scales, arpeggios, chords, jazz/pop harmony (if they wish to persue that), sonatinas (if they wish to persue that route as well), and other repertoire that they want to learn. From there we focus on the style and genre the student gets more enjoyment playing in. Read More

I like to tailor my lesson plans to the student, and their individual needs. For younger, new students, I like to teach technique, and classic songs, while teaching the early stages of theory, and music reading. For intermediate students, I like to drill scales, harmony, and sight reading techniques, to advance their own skills. If you are looking to apply to music school, I do prep courses on what to expect from the audition process, and what to look for when you apply. Read More
