For beginning students, I typically start with lessons I have developed to get them on the right track . Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce bass parts that are appropriate for their first performance with other musicians. Ultimately every student is different and has different needs and expectations. I have used many different methods over the years and will supplement any method book to meet the individual needs of the student. My preferred method for young students is the FJH Harris Young Beginner's Guitar Method series. For older students I tend to use either Mel Bay or Hal Leonard methods to teach the fundamentals and then add onto them with whatever suits the student best. In high school I won two downbeat awards for best pop/rock drummer (2004) and outstanding performance for jazz drumming (2005).
