Having the right breathing patterns (since there are many varieties) is what can give you the edge and really bring out the best voice inside of you. Currently, I'm helping a local church playing piano and drums (when they're short a drummer), and I'm the lead singer for a band called Just A Theory. Having been a part of this band has been really cool because we've used this group as a platform to help the homeless, by having our fans bring food and clothing to our shows. As the musical director for my college A Cappella group, there was an element of vocal teaching for new and existing members. We learned new song arrangements as a group, rather than assigning parts and having singers learn at home. Conversely, they taught me! It was a great collaboration. Nothing is more rewarding to see students highly motivated playing piano on their own after receiving the first lesson. All of my students are excited after taking piano lessons every week. My goal for teaching is students are able to practice all the songs they have learned during the lesson time, master them before next lesson begins.
