As lessons progress another part of my teaching method is to teach students something they can be proud of. For younger students that might be a nursery rhyme they know all the words to and feel like they can perform for their parents, for older students it might be a song they love and hear on the radio and always wanted to learn how to play. By doing this early on I hope to show students that with their hard work they can make music they're proud of and show them the benefits of practicing and reaching goals. Read More

I want students to learn what they're most interested in, with the caveat that I can teacg them a "song" or I can teach them the instrument and they can play any song. Whenever I can I play duets with the students. It makes what they're doing sound more like music. And I make mistakes. That shows that mistakes are no big deal (1 wrong note is a mistake. For beginning students, I typically start with Suzuki repertories with classical cello training. I have received Suzuki training at Cleveland of the Institute of Music. I emphasize on scales and etudes which are foundations for cello playing. In addition, I will begin to introduce a solo repertoire appropriate for their first performance. I try to make lessons effective and fun. For advanced students, I would also emphasize musical ideals with techniques. Read More

I'm always inspired by the ideas that my students have as well, and I always try to allow time for them to show me any things that they have discovered on the instrument on their own, and to see if we can develop it into something more. I also hope to my students will come away with the ability to see the drumset as not just a rhythmic instrument, but a melodic and harmonic instrument as well. Read More

Teaching is the best decision I have ever made in my entire career. When students first start I always ask them what their goals are and what they would like to work on. My goal for them is to watch them grow into the best musicians they can be because I see so much potential in them. I am a Bass Trombonist and Tuba player from South Orange, NJ. I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a BM in Music Performance in 2016, and then from the Aaron Copland School of Music with an MM in Performance. I love performing music as evidenced by performances with the New Jersey Youth Symphony at the Musikverin in Austria, and with the UMass Symphony Band and Wind Ensembles at the College Band Directors National Association conference.
