I began teaching starting in my undergrad, where I would teach weekly one-on-one, or group lessons to trumpet players in rural Indiana. Here, I found that I had a deep passion for teaching music, and that I would want to pursue it more. Now, as I'm pursuing my Master's Degree at the Manhattan School of Music, I am teaching young students privately, as well as in group lessons. I teach strong instrumental fundamentals, along with music theory comprehension, sight-reading, and ear training. I also like to emphasize ensemble playing using instrumental duets. I use appropriate level texts based on the student's experience first and age level second but always teach from what will make either younger students or adults feel comfortable. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance.
