I believe every student is different and therefore demands a different instruction style. Some students need a lot of encouragement and some students need more of a push. I also believe students need musical ideas to be presented to them in different ways. Some students need a visual explanation, some auditory, and some kinesthetic. Through my training to become a music educator at Missouri State University, I gained experience in several different types of students and I am confident I can help a large variety of students. I have been described as a "vocal cheerleader"! In a lesson with me you can expect a relaxed, fun environment fueled by curiosity, playfulness, introspection and humor. I find that making vocal discoveries is most poignant when in a safe space to explore. I use a combination of yoga and Alexander Technique to encourage mindfulness of the body, and I use traditional vocal techniques that apply to every style to make a singer feel an ease of vocal production. I graduated from Kansas State University in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance and a minor in Theatre. Over the past 5 years I have had 7 beginner piano students and 10 voice students of varying levels. I have taught ages 5-10 for piano and 11-20 for voice. I currently teach online via FaceTime/Zoom, am available to go to students homes or host them in my studio. I love teaching the next generation of musicians to find their voice and confidence in their instrument so that they can share their gifts with others and edify themselves.. Read More

Lively and Encouraging! Music is tough and can be very stressful! I stay upbeat and optimistic. It is important that a student is aware that practice and progress is NOT easy and it WILL be frustrating and aggravating. It is how you deal with that frustration that makes the player great! I want my students to know that I will always be a reliable source of knowledge and that they can always depend on me when they can't seem to master a certain skill or technique. Read More

I began teaching lessons while in high school to friends and other students of varying ages. Having taught in several music shops, I currently teach students from my house or in their own homes, which is why Musika was an attractive company for me. My background in music and teaching spans a diverse set of styles, and I try to encourage students to broaden their musical horizons by introducing them to music they may not have otherwise heard. My teaching experience began while I was in college taking music education coursework and working as a music tutor for a local middle school band program. After graduating in 2013 I have taught more than 300 hours of private music lessons to students of all ages. I have also taught group music lessons, K-6 general music and choir for a homeschool music program in addition to music theory lessons. I love puzzling out how to relate to each student in the way that best helps them progress towards their musical goals! Read More
