Hello, I'm Mackenzie B.. I'm currently a student at the University of Kansas for a Bachelors in Music Education. I am student teaching currently, which is my last step before receiving my degree. I currently work with Kerry Marsh for the KU Jazz Singers and enjoy singing both classical and jazz music. I also have two or three ukuleles and enjoy jamming with an acoustic guitar. For beginning students I love to take the chance to get to know them and their musical preferences. My teaching methods are a lot different from standardized teaching methods that being that I want you to sing songs that you want to sing. For more advanced students I want to give you the benefit of the doubt and let you also pick your music however I do work you a little harder in order to get your voice or instrument to the place it needs to be or the goal you've set for yourself and you want it to be. I am a professional musical theatre performer and director based in Kansas City and I received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance in December 2018 from Kansas State University. I am currently teaching theatre at Providence School of Arts and I have been teaching private lessons since 2017. I have previously music directed and choreographed for both Stage Right Performing Arts and Christian Youth Theatre Kansas City and looks forward to teaching and growing the rising stars of musical theatre in Kansas City. My methods vary greatly dependent upon the needs of the student. For younger students, I start with early fundamentals (music in general, breathing, and confidence) through easy songs that are recognizable and fun to learn. As a student ages, the voice matures, so I assess a student's vocal qualities and give them appropriate rep through their voice changing. For teens and adults, I focus on finding appropriate pieces that are in line with a student's preferred genre. Read More
