Not only did I learn about midi and music industry standards, I also had the opportunity to work with really amazing artists. One of my professors Mike Lacopelli was the recording engineer for Parliament as well as ran live sound for Aretha Franklin for 8 years. Later in my college career I began playing synthesizer with a band and working for Delta States Studio. I also worked in their computer lab teaching music software programs to newer students; the software programs included: Logic, Pro Tools and Garage Band. Read More

I have been teaching privately for the past 4 years, and established my personal virtual studio 3 years ago. I began to take on students after my master's degree, and in that time I have learned a great deal about using a completely individual approach per each student's needs. I am experienced in a wide variety of teaching scenarios: training the earliest beginner (of all ages!), preparing students for college auditions, and being a coach for professionals. Read More

Karla received her Music Educators license in Instrumental Music from William Jewell College in 2005. Currently, Karla plays 4th chair viola with the St. Read More

I am currently a student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, majoring in music education. In addition to cello, I have experience studying all the other string orchestra instruments as well as piano. Over the past few years, I have taught violin, viola, cello, and bass to students. I believe every student is different and therefore demands a different instruction style. Some students need a lot of encouragement and some students need more of a push. I also believe students need musical ideas to be presented to them in different ways. Some students need a visual explanation, some auditory, and some kinesthetic. Through my training to become a music educator at Missouri State University, I gained experience in several different types of students and I am confident I can help a large variety of students. Instruments: Violin Viola
While there are certain etudes that I give to many of my students such as Schradieck, Sevcik, Kreutzer, Rode, and Dont, I do not go by any particular violin "method" in my lessons. Rather, my lessons are catered to each student's individual differences and characteristics. Every student has his/her strength and weakness, and they are not always the same among the students. I carefully look at what needs most attention on each student, and come up with the best approach that I could think of based on my knowledge and experience as a violinist and teacher, so the student can overcome the difficulty in the most efficient manner.
