I began teaching during the end of my college years, when an assignment for a pedagogy class on voice included taking on a student for several months and working with them. I found the experience to be fulfilling and self revealing as to how I understood my own concept of singing. Since then, I have recently begun teaching a number of students who, thanks to my experiences as a resident artist with an opera company and recent performances with festivals, I feel have more to gain from me. For children who are just starting, I use Bastien Piano Basics Primer Level-Level 2. From here, students graduate to selections primarily from Bach, Chopin and Beethoven. For adults I use Alfred's beginner adult course. I also supplement these books with several books that I have in my personal library, such as Keith's Snell's Essential Piano Repertoire. For scales I use Keith Snell's series and for technique I use Schaum's Fingerpower series. Read More

My fondest memories as a student were those where I was learning and listening to music with my teacher. Seeing growth in students and seeing them enjoy music is part of my love for teaching. I set realistic goals and incorporate music theory, scales, chords as soon as the student is ready. I also teach composition and music production to those who are interested. I teach music production from a sequencing app that works on Apple and Android. I set up recitals for students where they can perform pieces they've worked or perform their original songs they've written. Read More

Being a private instructor affords me the opportunity to really tailor each learning experience to my student's needs, personality and musical aspirations. I enjoy the lesson most when my student is enjoying the lesson, so it's important to me that we're working on enjoyable music, making good progress and working hard enough to have fun. My love of violin began at age 19 and I joined the college orchestra after 6 months of lessons. I passed ASTACAP level 9 in 2019. I returned to Fullerton College and earned my piano pedagogy certificate with 14 additional units in performance, theory and child development. I have played violin in 3 orchestras over the years and hundreds of local church/wedding/studio performances. I traveled to China with Chapman Symphony and performed 4 concerts.
