I also prepare them for various other orchestra auditions or solo competitions. I take each student's individual needs into account and work on scale or Kreuzter etudes, and assign them solo repertoire suitable for their playing level and practice habits. For adult students, I try to find what kind of music they are interested in, and I work with them and their individual goals to learn and improve their musical skills! Read More

I have been teaching privately for the past 4 years, and established my personal virtual studio 3 years ago. I began to take on students after my master's degree, and in that time I have learned a great deal about using a completely individual approach per each student's needs. I am experienced in a wide variety of teaching scenarios: training the earliest beginner (of all ages!), preparing students for college auditions, and being a coach for professionals. Read More

For my methods, it depends on the age of the student and what their ability level is. For a young student, typically children, I would have to cover the fundamentals of music while applying it to piano or flute to help them learn the notes, clefs, time signatures, key signatures, etc. For my lesson plans, it changes from student to student as each student is different and has different needs they need to focus on to better their musical experience. I don't believe in a one size fits all mentality for music education, I've often seen this approach derail students from enjoying the process and eventually terminating their relationship with music overall. Students are a case-by-case basis, and in that regard, each lesson is catered to the students actual goals and interests. I believe in training our ears and our sense of rhythm to a point where the student can figure things out and make artistic decisions on their own and use lessons, less as a tutorial, but as a source of inspiration to pursue the things that brought them here in the first place. For all of my students I incorporate fundamental methods of playing technique and musical concepts to ensure steady musical progress. Many teachers (especially for guitar/ukulele) simply play along with students to pre-recorded songs or songs that the student picks. This can result in a student skipping around and trying to learn musical concepts out of order. This does not give students the confidence to play or approach songs independently. Read More
Instruments: Drums
Every person is different. It's the most interesting and important aspect of learning an instrument. What you sound like on your instrument is completely unique to you. For this reason, I don't believe any one curriculum, class, course or YouTube tutorial will work best for everyone. Of course, all of those things will play a role in a student's development. However, I believe working with a student means understanding their goals, even if they themselves are unsure, as well as guiding them through the traditional and professional aspects of drumming. Helping students to stimulating their interests of learning music is one of the most important thing! Therefore, I will give them enough space to find and develop their interest. I will help them to set up many realistic goals in each lesson, and bring them more passion for learning and practicing. I will be patient to all my students, even towards their mistake. Making mistake is not a bad thing during studying, the way to correct and keep learning is much more valuable. Read More
