Instruments: Piano Voice Music
My voice and piano studio was established in the summer of 2018 with the desire to provide quality piano and musical theatre coaching/training to the Kansas City area. Growing up, musical theatre and piano lessons were an essential outlet for me as I explored the world around me and within me. I teach because of my desire to share the life-changing experiences the performing arts has to offer with the next generation of performers. Read More

My teaching experience has been with my church choir. I started out as the accompanist and helper. A year or so later I found myself in the conductor's seat. For two years I worked with my church's choir to bring out the best that they could be, and to bring joy to the congregation. Not only did I conduct the choir, but I was their accompanist as well. I tried to bring a mix of old and contemporary to the table because I believe being a well-rounded musician. Read More

The ultimate goal for my teaching is to cultivate students' passion for music and their musical talents. I strongly believe that every individual student is different in terms of background, personality, and learning progress. My teaching approach is completely student-oriented, aiming to develop their musical skills and characters as unique individuals. I include step-by-step challenges into my lessons that are just challenging enough to keep my students feel accomplished without frustrations. Read More

I began teaching a couple years ago and have enjoyed seeing students develop a love for music and piano. If you love something, you work at it, so I highly encourage having a regular practice schedule outside of the lesson as this is a key point to developing the students skill and passion for music. Integrating different styles can help motivate the students to practice and learn, as well as making it fun. Read More

My teaching experience started in High School when I would exchange piano lessons for guitar with a musician friend of mine. My formal teaching experience began in Atlanta 5 years ago when I co-taught group keyboard lessons for beginner elementary school students and taught adult beginner voice students through my in-home studio. I took this experience back to my home town of Iowa City where I traveled to teach beginner adult piano and beginner adult voice and taught beginner-early intermediate piano and voice through a local music lessons studio. My goal as a private educator is to find what each of my students enjoys about learning music. When sequential learning is introduced, along with material that motivates, this encourages dedication and progression. I believe most students learn best when they feel they have input in some of the learning process. My students are also encouraged to participate in competitions and recitals. Having a goal to work towards aids in accomplishment and motivation. Read More

For beginning students like young students, I typically start with Piano Adventure as the textbook. Once they have progressed of study, I would like to introduce some solo repertoires with beautiful melody line for their recital performance. And in each lesson, I will play the accompany part for young students, which can bring them more fun of learning short pieces, and enjoy studying. For adults, I would like to talk with them, and find out a good way that they are interested in of studying, and give them more space of choosing repertoires for learning. Read More
