Instruments: Piano
I have an innate desire to share knowledge. I like to imagine my passion for teaching for my students as a development section in a symphony: Ever expansive! I started teaching piano in the Hoff-Barthelson Music School in the Scarsdale, NY community. Going further I taught and tutored piano and music theory to fellow adults in my alma mater: Manhattanville College. Currently I am the music instructor for the White Plains Youth Bureau STEAM Academy. Read More
Instruments: Flute
My teaching style requires the students to be consistent with their practice and warm ups, which helps to make lessons more efficient and allow students to see faster improvement. For all of my students, I put a lot of emphasis on the fundamentals of a woodwind player, which focuses on student's posture, embouchure, fingering, and breath support. From studying with Carol Wincenc and Karimi Furugh, I learned how closely linked our voice is to the flute. Read More
Instruments: Drums
For beginner students, I will introduce the basics of drumming techniques as this is the most important step in becoming a proficient drummer. Once the student has progressed and shown me that they can play simple beats with the proper technique, I will begin introducing them to repertoire appropriate to their skill level to get them to be able to play drums in a more musical manner. If the student is older and/or more experienced, I will likely start with exercises and ideas to build their level of skill within areas of their interest or what I think would benefit them the most. Instruments: Drums Mallet Percussion Orchestral Percussion Latin Percussion
For beginning students, I will start off with some basic rhythm sheets that I have created, and begin to asses the competency and understanding of basic rhythm. I firmly believe for any instrument that everyone needs a strong foundation of rhythm in order to progress into more advanced levels of playing and reading. At this point, I will begin to use Alfred’s Drum Method Books 1 and 2 interchangeably, eventually leading to Podemski’s Standard Snare Drum Method at the advanced level along with Rolls Rolls Rolls. Instruments: Double Bass
I'm an enthusiastic instructor always seeking to discover what makes my students develop a personal connection to bass technique, which will further their love for making music. Jazz has always been my first love, although it was classical music that got me to play the double bass. In 2015 I graduated with a Master of Music degree in Double Bass Performance, at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles. As a classically trained bassist I've performed with Gustavo Dudamel, Valery Gergiev, Yuja Wang, the San Diego Symphony and many more! Read More
Instruments: Electric Guitar Acoustic Guitar
For beginners, I usually introduce them the 12 main notes of music, the physical parts of the guitar, basic chords, and why these chords are named in such a specific way. As students progress, I will introduce more chords and plucking/strumming techniques. I also allow students to choose whatever songs they wish to learn. I will listen to it and decide whether students' guitar knowledge/skills are up to par for it. Read More
Instruments: Violin
I have created a curriculum which is comprised of the Suzuki series for Violin, the String Builder Series by Samuel Applebaum; the Introducing the Positions-Volumes I & 2 and Scale studies by Harvey S. Whistler. Music theory is taught using the Master Theory Series by Charles S.Peters and Paul Yoder. Additional Etudes that focus on Bowings, and Double Stops are taught to the more advanced student. Musical compositions such as Sonatas and Concertos by the major composers continue to develop the skills of the advanced student. Read More
