Instruments: Voice
I teach healthy vocal technique in any genre at every level. If you can produce sound, I can teach you how to sing. In addition to singing seriously for 15+ years and taking private voice lessons since the age of 12, in 2018 I graduated from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance, and in 2016 I graduated from Rollins College with a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Vocal Performance emphasis. Many of my students were working professionals, so we would work on what they needed to learn whether it be a script or a song. Some had an audition coming up. so we focus on that. Non professional students will have goals as well We can put recital dates together, or a school program or show coming up. I have students who want to audition for Americas Got Talent or American Idol. Read More

My first experience teaching someone was when I was younger in my high school days, I was teaching my 7 year old nephew how to play ukulele which was an arduous task indeed. But through said trails and tribulations we managed to accomplish our goals together. Currently Im teaching guitar at the fine arts academy and I am teaching one student consistently while also substituting occasionally. One thing I have learned through teaching is that actually listening to music during practice is a big help and motivation which I like to include in sessions. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet Euphonium Oboe Bassoon Music
For beginners, they must learn how to play the instrument. So books like standard of excellence or essential elements are great resources. I will guide them through what the book cannot explain and help them truly internalize aspects of playing their instrument. For more advanced players, we will work on tone, advanced technique, new styles as well as history, modern practices and more. Depending on their progress , I will ensure any recital music is music that they want to play, as well as music that really shows their progress on the instrument. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet Recorder
Over the years, I've learned that every single student learns differently in addition to going at their own pace. Anyone at any age CAN learn music! I've found that presenting multiple solutions to varying problems gives the students the best chance to succeed and it's not that someone cannot learn, they just haven't been presented with an explanation they can understand and clicks for them. I teach for each student individually and to their strengths, not what has worked for others. Read More
Instruments: Piano Synthesizer Accordion Keyboard
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, Suzuki method and music theory combined. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to college. I began teaching private lessons part time about 12 years ago and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 7 years. Routine and regular practice are a great combination to build muscle memory and an instinctual feel for music as well as a connection and passion to your instrument. Incorporating classical and oriental nuances are a great way to enhance rock music and solos, as well as make lessons & practice melodically fun and progressive. Read More
