For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for violin students and piano adventures for piano students. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. My teaching experience started while I was attending high school. I began working at local band camps over the summer during my senior year and I found the experience to be cathartic and extremely rewarding. At the beginning of my college career, I started working with several band programs as an instructor and private lesson teacher. I have been actively teaching students of all ages since 2007. For all of my piano students, I use Nancy and Randall Faber's Piano Adventures. Students ages 3-5 use the My First Piano Adventure series, which moves at a slightly slower pace and contains more parent/teacher activities. Students ages 6-12 (where most of my students are) use the standard Piano Adventures progression.
