Instruments: Flute Recorder
I taught classical flute and recorder in the Austrian school system and music schools for 15 years. Later, I was the band director and music teacher for the grades 4-12 grades in the Syracuse City Schools. I conducted a concert band, jazz band and had over 70 students in my band programs. Keyboards class, music history and general music were also a part of my teaching experience. My students have participated NYSSMA solo competitions, All-City Band, All- County band and All-State Bands. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet
My musical background is a combination of music performance and music education. As a professional music educator both at secondary Level (middle school high school) and the college level, I strive to focus on the musical aspects of my teaching. Two of my degrees are in Music Education with an emphasis in Performance and I believe in combining both the educational aspects of learning with the performance aspects of learning. Read More
Instruments: Trombone Saxophone Flute Clarinet French Horn Piccolo Mallet Percussion Oboe
I have taught private flute studnets since my Graduate School days, in 1994. My studets have reached NYSSMA level 6 and have played at college and scholarship auditions, NYSSMA solo festivals, in-house festivals as well as many other occasions. I know kids are busy and I am creative with using technology and simple "practice smarter not harder" strategies to help a student achieve his or her goals while still maintaining a busy schedule. Instruments: Piano
I don't have a particular piano book series I use. I find that most of them present beginning lessons about the same way. I tell very beginning students to only buy the piano book to begin with. If the student continues then I encourage them to purchase the theory and technique books in that level and series. For adults, I let them choose what piano book they want to use. Read More

Instruments: Guitar Ukulele Electric Guitar Classical Guitar Acoustic Guitar
For my fresh starter students who are children, I make sure they are aware of the best chords for beginners, then teach them how to comfortably move between them, this helps lay the fundamental foundation for guitar. For my adults I first and foremost get to know their musical interest, who their favorite players are. I then based on experience level will guide my instruction to suit my students needs and maintain fun engaging lessons! Read More
Instruments: Guitar Bass Guitar Double Bass
As I said, I do love to teach the individual, and after discovering their goals, use the approach that I believe will work best for them. I have many books that I use, and have worked in the past with Bunny Brunel and Mel Bay. With the instruments I teach, there are many different avenues that one could be wanting to take, from learning more theory, getting into Jazz Band at school, performing popular music live, or auditioning for college. This is why I take a versatile approach in my teaching, and in describing my instruction methods. Read More
