My teaching style is to go at the student's pace but also to gently encourage and motivate all along the way. In this way, the students has the incentive to work at their own pace while I try to move the momentum along. The whole idea is to have fun while learning and to motivate each other by learning and playing music together. My additional teaching style is to also listen to music together and assign trumpeters to listen to. in this way the student is able to hear what other trumpet players sound like and can hopefully acquire the sound they like and want in their ear to emulate it in their own sound. I don't have a particular piano book series I use. I find that most of them present beginning lessons about the same way. I tell very beginning students to only buy the piano book to begin with. If the student continues then I encourage them to purchase the theory and technique books in that level and series. For adults, I let them choose what piano book they want to use. Read More

With every student, I asses the goals of the child before we decide how to move forward. The curriculum for each student will change according to the ability level, practice schedule, and goals of the student.
