I would tailor my instruction to give each student the best opportunity to be successful. I typically use the Suzuki method violin books, but I can also work with Strictly Strings and Essential Elements. Depending on the natural strengths of the student, we may start with music fundamentals or jump right into violin setup and technique. I typically pair the books with exercises of my own invention meant to isolate the technique at hand for that lesson. As a classically trained vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, I have been instructing for 10 years, alongside my activities in performance. I have been instructing students and colleagues within the University setting, as well as in private lessons. I encourage students to listen to music and to dive into their respective sounds as much as they can because immersion is key to understanding how to embody their sound.
