Nothing is better than watching a students progress in music! It's so important that every student goes at they're own speed. I set realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs.. I try to make the my student feel comfortable and not nerves about learning. I believe that the overarching goal of music is not to become "successful" or to become a virtuoso, but to bring joy into your own life. This is why I create a unique curriculum for each student that is designed to meet their wants and needs as musicians. For example: if the goal of a student is to become a guitarist in a performing band that creates original music, I will emphasize song writing, improvisation, and ear training that is required to become that type of musician. From ~1998 to 2009 I studied under Jason Beaudreau starting at Jackson Music on Grand Island, NY and ending at the Guitar Woodshed in Niagara Falls, NY. As a classically trained vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, I have been instructing for 10 years, alongside my activities in performance. I have been instructing students and colleagues within the University setting, as well as in private lessons. I encourage students to listen to music and to dive into their respective sounds as much as they can because immersion is key to understanding how to embody their sound. If a student is missing that piece to their musical character, then that is where I come in, to stoke the flame, and focus it. Read More
Instruments: Voice
I am from a traditional classical singing background. I use vocal exercises to not only strenghen the voice but to build a strong singing foundation. Hopefully, by the end of the lessons there will be no need for a microphone. For young singers we will focus on classic tradional basic song literature as well as have fun with popular music. Adults can bet that I will help them fine tune and build a sound and secure vocal technique for what ever repertoire they are needing guidance on. Read More
