I am fairly new to professional teaching. I've been giving very occasional, informal lessons to friends for at least 5 years now. However, I am passionate about moving forward as a teacher, and sharing my twin loves of music and learning with students at any level of ability. In my past informal lessons, I have taught left- and right-hand guitar technique; fretboard logic; scales and scale patterns; chord-voicings (and how to develop your own); harmony; melody; modal theory; and repertoire, including such songs as the jazz standard "All Of Me", and Red Hot Chili Peppers "Can't Stop". It was because of this grant that I was able to attend the Boston University Tanglewood Institute for Saxophone Performance, where I took lessons and studied with some of the North Shore's greatest saxophonists, such as Ken Radnofsky and Jennifer Bill. For several years in a row, I have attended the Massachusetts Music Educators Association conference and took a variety of different masterclasses centered around education and musicianship. In the future, I would like to return to college to get a Master's Degree in Music Education, and continue to take inspiration from the music educators before me. Read More

In order to support students in discovering and sharing their unique artistic voices, I strive to provide a space in lessons where students feel safe to explore, discover, experiment, and make mistakes. The goal for all my students is to be able to perform with full conviction and belief in their interpretations through score study and analysis, technical mastery, and emotional engagement. Beyond learning about music and the technical aspects of playing the piano, the ultimate goal for my students is to learn more about themselves, about life, and to have the pure joy of experiencing life through music. I'm passionate about music and continuing to learn ones craft. I love to play and to teach music. I believe patience is very important when teaching students. There is also a better experience for all when sessions have a sense of fun. I've been learning, practicing, and playing guitar for twenty one years now. I've learned many things in that time. I've been in many projects and bands through the years and have met many musicians along the way. Read More

I teach beginner piano, and also guitar, all ages and levels. My approach is for you to experience playing music as something enjoyable, something you like, and that you look forward to learning more about. Teaching and learning music is fun for me so I try to balance the fun with learning the basics! For young students my approach is about patience, positive reinforcement, moving at the right pace, staying upbeat and focused through a lesson, and reinforcing the key parts. Read More

I first began teaching privately at age 15 when a wealth of younger and older students at my high school took interest in learning how to play the guitar, and write songs. I believe the only way to truly improve is to practice, and to enjoy the process. Learning music is like learning a language, so it is a process of repetition and study. That, however, does not mean it cant be fun! Read More
