Instruments: Guitar Trumpet Euphonium Music
Whenever I give lessons, I set a teaching plan based on individual circumstances. I use the same materials the student uses in their school. I add material as I see fit as we go along, I have found it is more effective than trying to fit everybody into the same box. Some examples say on guitar with a few high school students I have had in the past. I had a couple who wanted to simply be able to play along with their church choirs. Read More
Instruments: Bass Guitar
I believe in encouraging my students and supporting them, having them reach acheviable goals and having them work at a pace that is realistic I believe will develop their understanding and love for music. By combining a students interest with essential fundamentals of music I have found that my previous students have advanced their playing whilst denjoying the experience. When passing on my love for music I like to play a piece of music to my students and try to convey why this music is important to me and I like to hear pieces that my students love so I can see where they are coming from. Instruments: Piano
I tailor my teaching methods based on my students' individual needs. I use the following methods: The Alfred method uses a lot of colored pictures and graphics. The Bastien Method The Piano Party Series is great for those little ones who have never had lessons before. It is a lot of fun for the teachers also. We would suggest that the lyrics of the pieces be omitted, but the pictures and graphics are positive. Read More
Instruments: Flute
Most of my students are playing the flute or piano for an extracurricular/hobby activity. Therefore, I do not want any student to view lessons as work. Above all else, lessons should be fun! I want to challenge my students but never overwhelm them. I work with students at their own pace and try to make the environment as fun and as laid-back as I can. I love playing alongside my students so they are not always playing alone because sometimes playing by yourself in front of a teacher can be stressful. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Flute
As mentioned above, I tailor each of my lesson to the individual student I am teaching. I am very encouraging and patient, but also like to push my students to be the best they are capable of being. Read More
Instruments: Piano
For younger beginners, I typically start with Hal Leonard’s essential elements, every once in a while, I encourage them to find their favorite song (it can be any type of music) to study and play in the lesson. It can be the entertainment during lessons. The purpose it to make lessons more fun and keep them motivated. For adults, I always try to find out what is the best, what the student is interested in, what is the goal, guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons fun and productive. Read More
Instruments: Drums Music
This is VERY FUN. In my experience, students who reach this level of rhythmic awareness excel in other areas of music, including music production, audio editing and Sound Design. A benfit to my method is that each student has the option to incorporate recording and production techniques into their personalized curriculum. Having a solid foundation in the art of recording music is a highly marketable skill that will go a long way in todays modern music business. Read More
