Our last recital was focused on the student's performing their own compositions that we wrote together in our lessons. As a student progresses we will begin to take the learning outside of these books and more to music theory, technique, and to the application of these practices onto the instrument. I will be showing students the different types of scales that there as well as the keys that they are in for those who want to become soloists. I will also be teaching different techniques that are incorporated with Tapping on the fretboard as well as various other techniques. I am goofy kind of gal who is a kid at heart so, while I do not allow the students to goof-off during practice, I definitely encourage the children to have fun and take breaks. Learning a new skill is taxing on the brain so I do enjoy inserting some brain-breaks here and there, when necessary. I'm also a very big sticker advocate!
