I began teaching in Mississippi in 2011 to college students at the University of Southern Mississippi. After moving to Cincinnati, I began teaching preschool music. I began developing a preschool curriculum at the University of Cincinnati's Preparatory Program that combined reading, dancing, singing and imagining. After teaching privately for a year, I began my position as Executive Director of the Cincinnati Outreach (COR) Music Project. The method puts emphasis on bringing out the maximum potential that is within each child. There is something in education called differentiation, and this concept says that if your teaching style does not work for the student, then it is up to the teacher to change there method to fit what works best for the child. I have most students start with Essential Elements for fundamentals.  Then I progress to solo and duet repertoire when the time a student is able to grasp counterpoint and rhythm well.  Adult students can often move faster due to being able to understand the math behind music.  I also try to incorporate theory and history and culture with my lessons. For piano, I use Bastien for my younger students and Farber and Bastien for my older students. Read More
