For younger children, I typically start with the fundamentals such as distinguishing between the head voice and the chest voice. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for said student. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in both repertoire and vocal goals, and guide my instruction according to their goals. My teaching career started during college when I began teaching virtual private flute lessons during the pandemic. Since then, I have held teaching positions at various summer programs teaching music to elementary school children. My main goals in teaching are to ensure that the student is having fun and enjoying the music that they play and that classical music and instrumental instruction are accessible to students of all backgrounds.
