I've taught lessons to students since I was 19 years old, and music lessons to students since I was 22. Prior to the age of 22, my teaching experience was as a math tutor for the SAT, but that experience was invaluable in becoming comfortable with teaching generally, learning firsthand what techniques work best for teaching at a 1 on 1 level vs teaching a small group, how best to communicate material new to my students clearly and effectively, and to identify the need, when it arises, to spend a little more time on a given concept or topic. For beginning students, I typically start with some exercises for the left hand and right hand, easy arpegios, scales, melodies and chords. Once the student progresses to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For advanced students, I start with intermediate and advanced studies and pieces like 12 Studies of Fernando Sor, studies of Leo Brower, 12 studies of Villa Lobos or some famous spanish reprertoire for guitar such as Rodrigo, Turina, and Torroba. Keeping them engaged in the world of music is my main goal. Always to encourage them to keep pushing towards new boundaries. I remember my early piano teacher was terrible. It greatly damaged my passion for piano, which I regained many years later. I understand that a teaching position is not an easy one. We as professors, are the key to help the students find their own voices and not make them feel judged based on comparison or skills. Read More

I am a classical guitar teacher who is looking to educate and inspire potential new students. I am classically trained and I have learned from some of the best musicians in the area (Dr. Zane Forshee of Peabody University and Matthew Dunlap of Peabody University). While I do have a strong classical guitar backround, I also have a deep love for other styles such as rock, pop, blues, etc and would love to teach any of these styles. Read More

I have been working in the music industry and teaching for over six years. I have lived in London, New York City, and Los Angeles, and have worked in each city, leading my experience to be unique and easily adaptable. I have found a lot of success with students when I am consistently encouraging them to perform in front of Pias and family. This is how I became a music, professional, and hope to get my students there also. Read More

Around the age of 15, after about five years of performing, I started teaching guitar lessons to kids around my community and discovered a love for sharing my musical knowledge with others. When I went on to college, I continued teaching individual students and in my sophomore year joined a volunteer teaching group called SLAM! Through this twelve-week program, I had the opportunity to lead a group class of fifteen underprivileged middle schoolers with little to no musical experience. Read More
