By the time I was 12, I joined the musician's union, playing lead guitar in my 1st group, in the St. Louis area for the next 8 years. Moved to Hollywood, Ca.. to further my life as a musician ,soon playing bass and played on TV shows such as The Merv Griffen Show, and other T.V. shows,recorded 2 sound tracks in films andplayed on the" World Famous Sunset Strip" for several years and touring across the country. I find this course to be clearly written and easy to understand, and it offers a broad musical foundation to facillitate students as they move easily to higher levels of guitar studies. I teach the student as much as they can absorb while making sure they understand the material.I have never run out of material to teach.I teach proper technique and about scales because every song written is based on scales.I also work on songs with the student at the same time so they can see and understand how the songs and scales are used together.After the basics are understood we move on to songs the student wants to learn.I can also tailor lessons to a students wants or needs if desired.I have been doing this quite a while and understand what works. At the very beginning level I would start with fundamentals from whatever book I feel would be best for the student depending on their age and knowledge. Beforehand I definitely will need to asses their knowledge so I can do so accordingly. I however will now focus on solely fundamentals and will try to include in songs that the student would like to learn as long as it is in the bounds of reality, the lessons I provide are only part of the equation and the real work is what is put in after the lesson.
