I've always loved the power of music and sharing my knowledge and experience of it with others. I've been playing the piano and guitar since I was in high school, either with friends or just playing solo pieces. I've been reading music since middle school, when I picked up the trombone in the school band and was introduced to what music can do you for you as well as whatever group you're in. Read More

I am a diverse musician of stringed instruments, specializing in electric and acoustic guitar, violin/fiddle, and mandolin. My genres range from Classical music, classic rock, to Bluegrass, Country, and Blues. On the guitar, I play and teach both flatpick and fingerpicking styles. In classic rock, I teach such recording artists as the Rolling Stones, Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton (Cream), and Neil Young. On the Rolling Stones songs, I teach both standard tuning songs (Ruby Tuesday, Dead Flowers, etc), and open Tunings used by Keith Richards (Brown Sugar-G, Gimme Shelter-E) On the violin/fiddle, and mandolin, I teach, nice baroque pieces like Minuet # 3 in G Mjor (Bach/petzold), Rights of Man (E minor) and later 19th century (Off to California aka Passage in G Major), as well as later classical pieces like Beethoven's 9th Symphony (Ode to Joy). For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I truly believe in giving my students the freedom to select the songs and/or genres they like and that's because I believe passion is an integral aspect of learning. Read More

We always start where you are at. So we begin by getting acquainted and assessing your present skills and discovering your interests and what you would like to accomplish. If you are a total beginner, thats fine. I can show you your first chord with just one finger. I often develop custom lessons for a student. I like to get you going where you can play something fairly quickly. If you're not having fun, if you don't feel you're accomplishing something, you won't stick with it. Read More

Lessons are usually pretty casual. I like to use a book so that we always have a clear path. Students can request that their lessons be more vigorous (say if you're auditioning for a part or instrument for some activity) but otherwise, I tend to keep things more laid back. Read More

As I previously mentioned above,I show each student as much as they can pick up.I can show a student just about anything they want to learn, but its really about how much they practice at home that determines their ability. If the student practices a lot we move much quicker and it becomes more fun and challenging.Music is endless and you can never stop learning.they are proving more and more every day how music affects your brain. When you just listen to music, you use every part of your brain.Few things do that. When you play music you are using even more of your brain.
