I'm a fun and unique instructor who is both classicaly trained and self taught. I studied music in school, but taught myself how to play guitar. I graduated from Baruch College and the Institute of Audio Research, and I have been a professional musician for over 10 years and an Audio Engineer for the past five. I truly learned how to be a musician by performing around New York City as a solo artist and with my band. Read More

After teaching for 12 years I don't have a fixed method. I have categories of students, from children who are trying to function in a band setting, to children who are trying to develop a musical or compositional talent. I take particular joy in teaching adults who believe it is too late to achieve levels of technical proficiency that would make them proud. My journey from classical music to jazz through pop, swing, rock, soul and folk has taught me how to blend in with any style, and my classical education has given me the necessary toolbox to communicate about advanced theoretical concepts with students who are interested. Guitar has a bit of a steep learning curve at first, so I work on the basics of forming a good sound and producing clean notes and chords. Once that's established, I try to inspire students by showing just how much music can be made with as little as three chords. I'll help students learn their favorite songs and use those as an avenue for learning more technique. The best way to learn is by doing something interesting, so I use drills to help reinforce the songs students actually want to learn how to play. Read More

I am enthusiastic about music, and my primary goal is to pass that enthusiasm on to my students. I work with students to discover what they are passionate about, and then pursue that passion with them. If students display an interest in a particular subject, I am always willing to follow that path. Goals are a big part of my lessons, but they will be established according to what the student can handle. Read More

My teaching experiences go back at least 15 years. I started when I was in college and have never stopped teaching. In my lessons I focus on the whole child. Together we find out where their strengths lie and capitalize on those strengths. Music is supposed to be fun and that is one of my goals is to keep it fun and exciting for the student. I find it is best to expose the student to all types of music new and old and everything from classical to hip hop. Read More

I first started teaching when I was a junior in high school. Over the summer I would help the younger students of my town by giving Double Bass lessons. Since then I've grown my studio and I've only become more enthralled with helping people learn about music. I try to educate students on the history of the instrument as well as the many roles in can play in different genres. Read More
