The most rewarding thing about teaching is seeing my students cultivate their love for music, and self-confidence in their sound! In order to best achieve this, the most fundamental understanding is that each student learns and progresses at his or her own pace! With this in mind, I believe the best way to achieve results is to set realistic goals for each lesson - goals that utilize skills practiced in the lesson, yet set the stage for the next lesson are most ideal. Every student has different goals in their music lessons. I aim to create a fun and safe learning environment that doesn't put unnecessary pressure on students. No matter what one teaches, the burden to learn ultimately lies on the student. I believe what truly makes a great teacher is the ability to invoke interest in the given topic, so that the student wants to learn more! I strive to help my students find the same joy I get from music and desire to practice/learn more. Read More

The teaching style that I use is to get to know my students and keep a fun and engaging atmosphere. I try to convey that the goal of learning an instrument is to play music, so I always save time for playing songs or jamming together. I always found that my best teachers were kind and lighthearted individuals that understood my needs. I try to be the same for my students. Read More

I started teaching music lessons privately in my early college years, and subsequently was hired as the bass instructor for a local music school. There I taught one-on-one lessons, as well as group band lessons. I like to approach teaching by finding what style of music the student identifies strongest with and then finding ways to incorporate theory, exercises, and technique into what the student already enjoys. taking music lessons should never be boring, and the easiest way to avoid that is to teach what the student enjoys. I have found that the basics are the most important part of music. Even issues in more advanced players can be addressed by filling the gaps in a students knowledge of the fundamentals. I also strongly emphasise a student's ear training as that really opens up the instrument to them, allowing for more intuitive playing and improved creativity. I tend to cater to the students needs, and can also create simple backing tracks for students to practice the concepts that have been covered in the lesson. Read More

Kids will play games with music, while more experienced players will learn how to take their playing to the next level. I analyze what you need, and teach YOU to develop exercises to solve problems and constantly improve. I have my own complete design method that I combine with the students needs and musical preferences. I have designed lessons that are fun, will make you love playing and improve on your instrument. Instruments: Piano Guitar
While playing in a jazz combo in college I was asked to teach guitar to a couple of people. From there I gradually built up piano and guitar students over the years on a part-time basis. I've taught children through adults in many styles: rock, pop, folk, jazz, classical, and r&b. I’m a good teacher for early learners, very patient and I believe that learning music should be as fun as making it. Read More
