I've had a love for music since I was a child, when my father played classical recordings at home every day. I've played piano and flute since age 10, and the enjoyment of it just keeps increasing! From elementary school through college I performed on flute, including as a soloist, in bands and orchestras; and as an adult I'm continuing that. I believe in keeping lessons light and fun, while maintaining a strong emphasis on guiding my students toward becoming musically literate. We will have an open conversation about specific aspects of the flute and music that each student would like to improve as well as identifying their strengths. I use a variety of teaching methods, based on my own experience as a performer that I gained throughout long years of international education. I usually start my beginner students with Flute 101 Mastering the Basics method book, followed with the selection of scales and technical exercises of my creation and a repertoire selection (including etudes) matching the skills progression.
