I am an experienced flutist and teacher currently serving the DC Metro area, and I love teaching students of all ages and skill levels, from beginners picking up the flute for the very first time to advanced students preparing for County Band auditions and beyond, to adult students interested in learning a new skill. I received my Master of Music in Flute Performance from the New England Conservatory, and Bachelor of Music in Performance from George Mason University, and am continually improving my skills as a flutist by taking auditions for orchestras and festivals around the country. For younger beginning student I prefer to use Essential Elements for a good foundation. For older beginners I prefer the Rubank Method. Once the basics are grasped I add in level appropriate solo music. As the students progress I move either into the Rubank Method for younger students or the Trevor Wye method for the older students. She has taught privately, worked in public schools at the secondary and elementary level, taught in community music schools and arts camps, and has worked with various organizations that provide free music education to students in need. With intermittent lessons on musical theory along the way, the student will begin their technical foundation.
