I make sure my students have a strong foundation, which means I start with classical training. I work on the basics such as posture, articulation, breath-support, vowel shapes, and rhythm. Once they have a strong basis, I move to modern and musical theatre if they desire it. For a student who is going the strictly classical route, I will teach them IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) to help them with pronunciations in foreign languages when singing. Read More

My goal as a teacher is to encourage a love of music and performing in my students. Working with individual students, my first objective is to find an appropriate pace at which to work, and then it is to set different short-term and long-term goals. I always try to get to know my students well, because I believe that when a teacher and a student have a good relationship, lessons become stress-free and goals become better tailored to the student. All of my lessons are customized to fit the individual student's wants, needs, and goals (taking stock of the students' parents wishes as well). This will manifest naturally based on the personality and learning method per student (ex. verbal, auditory, kinesthetic) and the requirements of the particular instrument(s). With beginning instrumentalists I begin with the basics (ex. finger numbers, the musical alphabet, different patterns on the keyboard, the staff, note types and values, etc). Read More

I am a multi-instumentalist/performer/teacher who loves working with students of all ages and musical backgrounds. My specialty is classical music, but I am also a singer/songwriter! I have a masters degree in Oboe Performance from the prestigious CCM, at the University of Cincinnati. I live as a freelance oboist, pianist, and vocalist in New York City, and am currently recording my first full length album. While oboe and piano are my wheelhouse, I feel comfortable teaching the following instruments: guitar, clarinet, flute, bassoon, ukulele, and folk/pop voice. Read More

I grew up in Massachusetts, where I attended the New England Conservatory Preparatory School, and later went to the University of Manitoba on a full scholarship to study with Jon Gordon. After finishing my undergraduate degree, I toured across Canada with several bands, and then moved to New York to continue my professional career. I have had the honor of playing in jazz festivals across Canada and in the States as well. Read More
