I have been passionate about music and teaching from a very young age. I began playing the flute at age 10 and eagerly continued, participating in every musical opportunity I had in middle school, high school, and college. In 2010, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Susquehanna University with my Bachelors in Music degree in Music Education with a concentration in flute. My teaching experience began in 2012 as a coach for students auditioning for middle school local honors bands. I have since been consistently teaching students of all ages for both auditions for honors ensembles/competitions and for basic flute training. Consistent practice is always a key focus with all of my students. I find that the best way to motivate students is by helping them the fun in learning! I have personal experience with participating in the various honors ensembles in the Charlotte and NC area, including All-District Band, and NC All-State Band. Read More

I typically begin with an age appropriate method book, supplemented by customized materials I create for each student. The initial focus is on FUNdamentals and understanding basic music theory. As soon as appropriate, I begin to incorporate solo literature selected by the student as well as provide assistance with any school band/orchestra assignments. I established the Stanton School Afro-Brazilian Drum ensembles, the Orff Ensembles and three choruses. I have also taught at the collegiate level at Eisenhower College for 8 years. I played clarinet with the Auburn Chamber Orchestra and the flute and piano as a soloist for community events, weddings and church services.
