I am a music educator and performer from Arkansas. I moved to the area to further my studies at UNC Greensboro. Some of my interests outside of music include cooking, fishing, and playing with my cat. I have been teaching for over 5 years now. I am a very open minded instructor and believe that lessons should be structured around every students' needs. For beginning students, I start with the Essential Elements book. If the student has already taken lessons or is in their school band/orchestra, I encourage moving onto the Rubank Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced method books depending on ability. Once a student has proven that they are able to handle it, I will start on solo repertoire. Particularly for college-bound musicians who wish to major in music, the majority of their lessons will be based on preparing solo literature for All District or college auditions. Read More

I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Oboe Performance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts studying with Jaren Atherholt. As an orchestral player, I have had the privilege performed with the UNCSA Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestros Larry Rachleff and Christopher Lees, and with the UNCSA Ballet Orchestra in their 2018 and 2019 production of The Nutcracker. It is my goal to customize the lesson experience for every student that I teach. Most beginners benefit from a method book, such as Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, which is a good starting place for most students. As students progress on their instrument, I choose the method books and solos that will best help them develop their talents as well as keep them engaged in the material. During my years on the flute, I have used a wide variety of methods that I have found successful for different techniques, so I can effectively select what material will help each student become successful.
