As a teacher, I am always wanting to see my students enjoy what is happening in the music. I have wide spectrum of students that I have taught. Some have wanted to play an instrument casually and others wanted to go into the performance route. I am flexible when it comes to my teaching. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Or even before begiining Band, if I find a student who is very well at reading Music, I will not hesitate to recommend that student for Band; sometimes as early as Grade 3. My students are always rewarded for their efforts. I will spend an amount of my budget for rewards of all sorts; sometime during the school year, and always at the end of the School Year.
