I have taught private lessons to students of all ages since my time in college. I enjoy working with a wide variety of ages, and levels of experience from beginners, to students with over ten years of experience who are auditioning for college programs. For beginner students, I typically start with Rubank Elemetary Method for Flute. However, if you have a different method book, I am happy to teach using that book, if I find it to be a credible source. For intermediate to advanced students, I prefer to use the Rubank Advanced Method Books 1 and 2, but again, if you have your own books, if I approve, we can use those books instead. I will be flexible with you and teach to your skills and experience with method books and repertoire that will help you improve your technique. Read More

We will also dive into deeper topics such as tone color, articulation style, and period specific styles. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 40 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 20 years. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy their instrument and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
