My teaching experience dates back to when I was still in high school. I would go to middle schools and give lessons. Now as a college music graduate, I have taught many ages including college peers. I think it is important to teach skills and methods that will help the student problem-solve and continue to learn even when they are alone. My method are getting with the student for a first lesson to see what they have done and what they are able to do. Then get them to play for me whatever they wish to play for me at the moment and then we will go from there. Depending on what they are able to do then I will decided what kind of warm-up to d with them. Like for myself I do 15 minutes of long-tones on oboe and then 10-15 minutes on English horn. Read More
