I have been passionate about music and teaching from a very young age. I began playing the flute at age 10 and eagerly continued, participating in every musical opportunity I had in middle school, high school, and college. In 2010, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Susquehanna University with my Bachelors in Music degree in Music Education with a concentration in flute. I love being able to send students on their way for the day knowing that they put their best foot forward. Even if they did not come to a lesson prepared, being able to see growth in the small amount of time I'm with them is enough for me. I typically begin with an age appropriate method book, supplemented by customized materials I create for each student. The initial focus is on FUNdamentals and understanding basic music theory. As soon as appropriate, I begin to incorporate solo literature selected by the student as well as provide assistance with any school band/orchestra assignments. I don't tend to rely on any one method. I have quite a bit of material that I have personally developed over the years. I try to take each student as an individual with their own unique personality, likes and dislikes, and motivations. So I enjoy customizing a lesson plan that is as individual as each student.
