I am a great believer in the importance of a guided warmup routine and have developed a practical method for students to acquire facility with all of their scales and arpeggios in all the keys with various articulations in a logical and efficient way using standard materials. This is backed up with a "saxophone curriculum" to bring a student from beginning stages all the way to solo recitals at a college level. Read More

I love teaching private lessons, and I have 12 years of experience doing so. I have been playing flute for 26 years, and I earned my Bachelor's in Music Education and Flute Performance from SUNY Fredonia, and my Master's degree in Flute Performance from the Hartt School. I have performed with many different performers and ensembles including: the Chelsea Symphony, SEM Ensemble, Hartt Independent Chamber Orchestra, the Long Island flute ensemble, jazz bass legend, Nat Reeves, the Jalapeño Quartet, traditional Irish harpist Hailey Hewitt, guitarist Oren Fader, and the Alturas Duo. I have performed at Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, for Composer's Voice Concert Series, the Connecticut Guitar Society, many public libraries, the Windsor Historical Society, the New Britain Museum of Art, the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, Windsor Art Center, and the Wadsworth Museum of Art, among others. I always try not to push for practice assignments, students are busy for school homework, outdoor activities, family obligations, most importantly, students should have fun to play music, of course practice is important, but if students lost interest in music playing, it will be hard to continue to have lessons. For parents, they would like to see kids's improvements, so that I set up student recital each year, and they can see how the kids improved each semester. Read More

If you wish to educate, you must inspire first. Each student is encouraged to proceed at a pace that is suited to their aptitude, goals, schedule and drive. Positive acknowlegement of achievements, clear communication and demonstration of techniques, opportunities to play with others at a similar level of growth and an atmosphere of musical community are key to the progress of my students. To inspire, instruct, and enjoy music is the mesaage the teacher should be imparting to the student. Read More

For me it is really important to see students learning and advancing in music. Understanding every student needs and abilities allows me to set up clear and objective goals for every lesson. Keeping motivating the students through certifying their progress helps them to keep learning. It is also important for me that each student has fun, otherwise I do not feel like I am doing my job!
