Instruments: Piano Voice Flute
For beginning piano students, I usually employ the Faber or Alfred Series books. They are intuitive and the various books (Lesson, Theory, Technique, Performance, etc) complement each other well! They also have an "older beginner" series that is great for teens and adults that are new to piano. I also encourage my students to try composition, even if it is very simple melodies. This is usually after they have established a good grasp on beginning music theory concepts. For beginning voice, we begin half with the essential signing technique as well as the beginning musical concepts such as pitch, rhythm, etc. Read More

I'm an energetic and passionate instructor who loves sharing my love for flute! I hold two degrees in flute performance. A Bachelor of Music obtained from Washburn University (Topeka, KS) and a Master of Music from Western Michigan University (Kalamazoo, MI). I have had the honor of studying and learning from some of the best flute players across the country, and love that I can take the knowledge from those amazing players and pass them on to my students. For students just starting I like to use the Rubank Method Books to establish solid fundamentals. As students progress I like to base the lessons on the needs and interests of my students. I like to have students play a variety of types of music. This includes classic, jazz, pop, rock and more. Read More
Instruments: Piano Saxophone Flute Clarinet
I first began teaching while still completing my Bachelors degree at William Paterson in 2011. Most of my students were beginning level piano students, but I had a few more advanced students as well as some people studying saxophone with me. My teaching philosophy is to combine teaching the technique of an instrument with learning songs as well as theory and improvisation/composition. Everyone learns technique, but learning music that I wanted to learn, learning how those songs were written (theory), and eventually elaborating on those songs (improvisation), and writing my own music (composition), was what really got me deeply engaged in the act of practicing and making music, and I have found over several years of teaching that it keeps my students engaged and enjoying the learning process. Instruments: Flute Recorder Piccolo
I have a four-fold method system for teaching the flute based on tone, scales, etudes, and solo and orchestral repertoire. From the start I see the importance at learning and accomplishing the goal of learning a solo piece. Whether that is an absolutely beginning learning simple tunes, to collegiate level exam pieces. I take influence from many famous flute pedagogues including Moyse, Trevor Wye, Altes, and many others. I strive to include a blended mix of styles and eras of music as well as influences to keep students engaged. Read More

I like to work with each student based on their musical preferences. I have a basic set of books to work through that help with tone development and technique, but my main focus is helping the student develop the sound they want and discover what style of music is best for them. Whether youd re interested in baroque, classical, or 20th century flute I will have repertoire to work on. Read More
