As a flute teacher, I encourage my students to play with love. Finding the balance between physical technique and musicianship is something that students can struggle with. In order to master the flute, students need to be technically proficient, but to make music, students must be inspired. My students will be given the tools to be a great flutist both in my studio and later on in their careers. I am a passionate flutist that loves teaching flute privately in addition to performing. In May of 2022, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Hartt School of Music with a BM in Flute Performance. While I was there, I studied with Janet Arms, flutist of New York City Opera. I have also extensively studied with Dr. Barbara Hopkins, Assistant Principal of The Hartford Symphony Orchestra. For elementary students and some middle schoolers, I usually either work out of Standard of Excellence or Essential Elements book 1 to begin their studies or continue where they left off. For high schoolers and more advanced middle schoolers, I like to have them play solo flute pieces that fit with their ability level.
