I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I have been performing music almost all of my life and teaching for about 8 years. Performing all over the South East has been one of the greatest experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to lead my high-school marching band through Disney World, as well as opening for the Corporate Vice President of Microsoft at the Microsoft Convergence Convention. I am a nurturer. I teach with caring, passion and support of all my students. It's not just enough show students how to play a note or read a rhythm, but how to use that knowledge in everyday life. I like to build a positive working relationship with my students. This way they look forward to their lesson, not only because they are comfortable around me, but because they are growing and learning about music and it's relationship to life. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching friends and kids at church 12 years ago. I have been teaching students off and on in my home or at church for the last 4 years. I encourage students to make time for regular practice on a consistent schedule. Another one of my key points I like to emphasize for younger students and adults is less is more as it tends to help the students progress and gain a passion for the instrument in its most simplistic form. My teaching style is unique because it revolves around having fun with music. I believe that more traditional forms of teaching can be too dull or too urgent, leading to disinterest. Once you become disinterested, you're far more likely to quit - and I don't want you to quit! Learning to play an instrument is one of the most fulfilling accomplishments that a person can achieve, no matter the age or skill level. Read More

I started teaching private lessons in high school, for free, to other students in the percussion section of both the concert and marching bands. Shortly after starting as a music major at Asbury Univeristy I continued to teach lessons. During my collegiate years I also was involved in taking private lessons and playing for all available percussion-needed ensembles (concert band, jazz band, orchestra, etc.). Consistenly since leaving high school I have also played in both rock bands and wedding bands and I consider these to be extremely helpful in my teaching experience. Read More
