I've always been a passionate and curious musician, ever since I picked up a flute in fourth grade. I have been dedicated to both flute and percussion ever since then, and continue to learn and play at Sarah Lawrence College. I am currently focusing on playing in pit bands for musicals, as they are my favorite performance setting. I have competed multiple times in the NYSSMA solo music festival, and have been part of an award winning concert band at the Lake Compounce Trills and Thrills Music Festival. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 20 years ago, and have been consistently teaching high school band and percussion for the last 15 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. My favorite piano method book for children is the Bastien Piano Basics Series. Alternately, I sometimes use the Faber & Faber Piano Adventures. For very young children (3-6) "My First Piano Adventure," a Faber publication, is my book of choice. For adults, I usually use Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course, though sometimes I skip method books and play pieces picked by the student.
