I began teaching younger kids in my high school that were also starting to play in bands. I learned very quickly just how much experience I already had gathered to provide insight to people who were just a few years behind me in skill level. Over the course of my college and post college years I've had the opportunity to teach rosters of students ages 5-50. There is nothing more fulfilling then having a chance to connect on an educational and creative level, with an individual, and watching them progress to a point where they can feel a sense of fulfillment in the work that they put in. In my lessons I use snare drum method books such as Mitchell Peters Intermediate Book or Stick Control by George Stone to teach reading and basic hand technique.  Once I feel the student is proficient in reading and technique I move on to drumset coordination books as well as learning drum parts to the students favorite music.  I also teach techniques for xylophone, tympani and other classical percussion instruments.  I have an extensive library of music books and techniques so if one method doesn't work I have no problem customizing my lesson plan to fit the student's need. I have performed in parades and football games, and competitively in settings like the Lucas Oil Stadium and Ross-Ade Stadium. Additionally, I am adept in concert/orchestral performance, having participated in large and small ensembles at Ball State University.
