I believe the best tool is MUSIC. Playing along with music or musicians will ultimately help the most. But fundamentals are a must. The way I teach is about showing the student "the dance" of drums. The exercises and rudiments they practice are the movements in a dance. For example, with Punk drums the movements need to be mastered and played fast so the student will have to practice to get the movements up to speed instead of focusing on the beat. With Pop drums the movements need to be comfortable but precise as the student learns the importance of a metronome and how to relate to it by thinking of it as a member of the band. Read More

I believe in getting the student interested in the concepts and styles themselves, i like to introduce them to different ways of playing and my main method is to show them how it can be exciting to play/learn. For eg, for someone who loves games, I would show them how to play chords and melody ( on a piano ) at the same time by using the Minecraft theme song as an example, or any game that they might know and enjoy so it gets them interested to want to play and learn, through that i will show them dfferent techniques and concepts, this way they are already enjoying what they are learning and at no point will not want to practice it on their own. I have loved music ever since I was a child. I grew up in a musical family, and starting taking drum lessons when I was 7. I was luckily enough to know even as a child that music was what I wanted to spend my life doing. I attended a charter middle and high school in Western Massachusetts dedicated to the performing arts, which provided me with a lot of early experience playing music with other people and honing my craft.
