My teaching experience back in the day was when I started working as a music teaching assistant more than 20 years ago. I will pay attention to the kids who were not be in learning music. That's what I thought, and I know I'll have to slow down and find the way that influencing their study or if they just want to be more active instead of sitting around. The best way to ingrain a new concept or idea I have found is to teach someone a practical way in how to use it, usually through learning a new song or exercise which expands their horizons and outlook on things. For piano lessons I prefer use the Alfred's piano books or Hal Leonard's books, for voice lessons I use the methods of classical singing school, Set Riggs method and pop & jazz techniques, it depends on the style, that student prefers to learn. I have an interactive yet focused style of teaching. I can(but don't recommend) to use the Suzuki method. I feel that all aspects related to the instruments weigh much importance in teaching the student. However, with the Suzuki method, the student's primary focus is to learn pieces rapidly and climb the level of difficulty as fast as possible. This prevents him/her to fully understand and analyze the piece and lesson and it can also turn the student away from pursuing the instrument further.  Read More
